What You will see at Cebu Normal University
A center piece section of the museum is the gallery show casing the development of education. Old books, like Pepe and Pliar, as well as instructional aids used by teachers since the Spanish era, are on display.
The piameto, one of the Indispensable tools used by the teachers during the Spanish era. It was meant to slap the palms of nasty children (hence the name).
A collection of photographs of school activities is also included in the exhibit.
Oral literature, part of the informal process of education in pre-Hispanic times, is represented by the dance-epic Aginid Bayok so Atong Tawarik, recorded by a 92-year old Cebuano, Mr. Jovito Abellana, the ancient Visayan script.
The Section on World War II shows relics of the last war, which includes weapons divers and diverse equipment of the ordinary soldier photographs of historic battles and the military leaders of both sides, newspapers published by the warring forces and other memorabilia.
The old masters of Cebu are featured in the Art Gallery. On exhibit are paintings and some sculptures., works by the second generation old masters like Marbno Abellana, Jose Kimsoy and Miquelito Yap, Jose Alcoseba and son Vidal, Sergio Baguio. and others.
Also. on display are reproductions of the works of first generation artists Raymundo Francia, Canuto Avila, Dante Guidetti, and Jovito Abellana.
