Cell-phone E-directories Listings and Links

Are there any cell phone directories? Yes but you have to be careful and understand how they are generated. Think about it. The cell phone is a mobile phone. It has no fixed position or owner.

In the United States, a cell phone subscriber pays for both incoming and outgoing calls. In the rest of the world, if you call someone's cell phone, you pay for placing the call.

When the U.S. system was put in place in the 1980s, wireless companies decided not to make people's cell phone numbers publicly available in order to keep their customers from having to pay for unwanted calls from telemarketers, ex-spouses, etc.

The cell phone device has a life of it own. It's just an object in cell space. The phone company has no way to find out who is using a particular number. Yes you do register your name when you buy the phone device, but that may be falsified very easily. The phone company does have a persons name and cell number in a data base. The courts and legal system do have access to these names but it takes a court order to release this information.

Today many cell phones in the world are prepaid. They use a unique registration number to renew your time and features with the phone company. The phone company then keeps track of time used in a database.

Another problem is that as new cell models come onto the market, make the old models obsolete. What do you do with the old model? Sell it on the used market. A brisk business is to recycle cell phones by breaking the lock to the current cell company and adding a new sim card, thus changing the number and owner.

The only way to solve this problem is by subscription. The cell phone user has to subscribe and register his or her data in an independent database. CELL Global answers this need in a very unique and secure way. CELL Global uses a "Flash Applet™" on the client side and "Openamf" on the server side. Openamf is an open source Java™ servlet that communicates with the "Flash Applet™". See how it works for more detail.

Please take a minute to read our privacy statement. Then take a look at adding your cell phone to our database.
